As a student, there are a number of reasons why you are particularly likely to be owed a refund. These might include;

2. What are your fees?
Our service is entirely risk free - if you are not owed money, you don't pay a cent. You only pay if you receive a refund, in which case we take a fee of 17.5% with a $40 minimum. Therefore the fee to process an average refund of $291 is $51. There are no fees taken on any return under $80. |

3. What is the regular price for a chartered accountant to prepare and file an individual's tax return?
A typical price for an individual's tax return is $100 + GST. This is a non-refundable charge that you pay regardless of whether you receive a return. |

4. What if I owe the IRD money?If we discover that you owe the IRD money, we don't process your tax return - therefore there is no possibility of you receiving a tax bill. Please note that if you file your own tax return you are legally obligated to pay any debts. Student Tax Returns will only process any refunds available to you. Please be aware;

5. Is my personal information safe?Our website and processing system have been designed with your security in mind. Our application form is secured by a 128-bit SSL certificate, the best technology on the web for encrypting secure information. 6. How long does the process take?Within 15 to 30 working days we will have determined your tax situation over the previous five years and contact you with details regarding whether you are owed a refund or not. We then await deposits from the IRD before paying out your return to you. This can take a further 10 to 30 working days. Please note that the majority of the waiting time is determined by the IRD, and not by us. In exceptional circumstances your refund may tae longer: please Contact Us if you have any questions regarding your application. Please be aware, we are currently experiencing some delays with the IRD and this means the process is taking slightly longer than usual. |

7. How do I get paid, and is my money safe?Your refund is entirely safe at all times. It is placed into our trust account by the IRD and will be paid out to you within 48hours of our receiving it. When you Apply Now you enter your bank account details with us and this is where your money will be transferred to. Our trust account is fully audited and protected under New Zealand law. |

8. I have already done my tax return - is there any point signing up?Perhaps. Under New Zealand law you can file a tax return up to five years after that financial year has ended. We check each of your last five years tax history separately and collate the total owed to you into one refund, a process unavailable to you or the IRD. A: In order to process 2010 tax returns, we must request a Personal Tax Summary for you that covers the 2010 financial year. The IRD will not be releasing these Personal Tax Summaries until the middle of June. This is because the IRD needs time to process all employment details from the previous financial year.
We require this information for your security. In order to have as many points of contact we require an email address, phone number and mailing address. Your bank account number is to ensure that you receive your tax return with 100% certainty - we do not mail cheques as they are prone to being lost in the mail, misplaced and forgotten about, and they they take much longer to clear. By providing us with your bank account we can be sure that you will receive your return in a timely manner. All older IRD numbers are only 8 digits long, and have been turned into 9 digit numbers by adding a zero to the front. You can either enter your IRD number as an 8 or 9 digit number.

If you have received interest over $200 in any one of the previous five financial years we require a statement from your bank with the details of the interest received. This can be obtained by getting in touch with your bank.
